Furniture Samples Before Bulk Production: When Are They Important?
A sample reduces uncertainty when a design is reproduced in trade quantities. It is more than a photography piece: it provides a reference for dimensions, colour, upholstery and details to be maintained in production.
Define what the sample approves
Record dimensions, materials, colour, fabric and accessories, specifying which details must match. A colour or fabric sample may settle some decisions, while a new design may need broader review. Discuss the approval method, cost and schedule before starting.
Record approval in a clear version
Do not scatter approvals across photographs and old messages. Keep the final version with the approval date and design code. Specify whether changes apply only to the sample or the entire quantity, especially when several showroom staff manage the order.
Keep a reference for future batches
Reordering months later requires specifications rather than a trade name alone. Confirm materials and any differences before reordering. Samples clarify the agreement but do not remove the need to review production, packaging and quantities at delivery.
